Master’s degree in Public and International Affairs - MAPI
Focusing on the acquisition of scientific and professional skills, the Master's in Public and International Affairs (MAPI) will equip you for the job market, thanks to practical courses and an in-depth job-immersion internship program recognized for its diversified offer and high placement rate, both locally and internationally.
Overview
The MAPI includes a minimum of 18-course credits (2 mandatory courses, 1 course with options and 3 courses of your choosing), a 12-credit internship and the writing of an analytical internship report (15 credits).

The 16-week full-time internship (at least 540 hours) is designed to encourage long-term integration into the workplace, linking academic knowledge with practice.
The 12,250 words (approximately 30 to 35 pages) analytical internship report synthesizes the internship experience with the theoretical knowledge acquired during the course.

- Seminars offered by experts who apply their academic knowledge to their professional practice on a daily basis. These inspiring practitioners (in French) include former elected officials, journalists, political advisors, public relations consultants, diplomats and international cooperation specialists.
- A 4-month job-immersion internship experience that bridges the gap between academic knowledge and practice. Among the organizations receiving our interns are the Federal and Provincial governments, the City of Montreal, Radio-Canada, the United Nations, the Canadian Red Cross, the European Commission, several private companies and embassies around the globe.

The Department of Political Science holds all courses, teaching and administrative meetings in person. Except in exceptional cases or for follow-up, students are invited to attend classes on Tuesdays and Wednesdays at the Department of Political Science, on the 4th floor of the Lionel-Groulx Pavilion. It is definitely recommended to book your appointment in advance.
